Andrea teaches at Yogadotcalm

Andrea

My earliest memories of yoga are of practicing with my Grandma in her living room as a child. For a long time, yoga came and went in my life. In 2001, during a time when life felt chaotic and out of reach, I started practicing more seriously and could immediately feel the effects yoga had on my life off the mat. My practice has helped cultivate a deeper connection and understanding of self and has given me a sense of clarity and contentment.

After a few years doing a gentle Hatha practice, I was drawn to the flow and vitality of the Ashtanga practice. I love the energy that this practice gives me, and the calm feeling of moving with the breath. My practice reminds me to enjoy the flow of life and of yoga. When something flows it is always moving and changing, thus, my practice reminds me everyday to find beauty and contentment in the process and not the final result.

The classes I teach tend to mirror this idea of flow and movement. I encourage fun and experimentation, with a focus on the breath and working within ones own capacity.

In 2006 I completed my first teacher training at YogadotCalm, and have more recently completed a training with Hart Lazer, Kevin Elander and Jeff Mah. I have been fortunate to attend numerous workshops and learn from many teachers including David Swenson, Mark Darby, Nicki Doane, Eddie Modestini, Beryl Bender Birch, Nicola Franks, Ian Buchanan and many others. I have also completed Levels 1 and 2 of the Critical Alignment Therapy trainings. In 2009 I travelled to India to practice under the guidance of Sharath Rangaswamy, which was an incredible experience!

All of my teachers and students have impacted me, and I thank them all for sharing this gift of yoga.
