Yogadotcalm

Yogadotcalm teaches Ashtanga Yoga, also known as "power yoga" in the Western parts of the world. We are located on the second floor of Fish Creek Village in southeast Calgary (click here for a map). Our instructors all have over 200 hours of training, many years of practice & teaching behind them, and love to teach this dynamic style of yoga. We also offer hatha, prenatal, postnatal, kids yoga (ages 5–12), yoga therapy and meditation classes throughout the week.

What many of our students are saying:

"Their love and dedication to yoga and their willingness to teach"

"Knowledgable and unintimidating. They're not yoga snobs."

"Everyone is joyful, knowledgeable, easy to learn from, easy to talk to, great sunny environment helps too and the "punch card" gives lots of flexibility to try different classes."

"They seem to live their lives as part of their practice, they are well trained and calm"

"Each one has their own specialness and bring something different to the table. My favourite has always been Allison, but love all the rest too."

"I really like Mary's style - I find she is non-judgemental and really wants us to avoid injury. She has a very confident, calming style"

"I appreciate that the teachers allow you to practice at your own pace and demonstrate modified poses so that you're not left behind. The biggest reason I keep coming back is I know I can practice in a non-competitive atmosphere."

"What I enjoy most about the teachers at yogadotcalm is absolutely everything! I think all the teachers at yogadotcalm are truly amazing! They really give a step and beyond. Compassion and interest about all the people in the class really shines through. All of the teacher's skills of teaching are top notch and always have an answer to the question. I feel so grateful to have such a fantastic yoga studio to go to."

We all have busy lives. Yogadotcalm classes run on a drop–in basis, so you can pop in for a class when it is convenient for you. Our memberships are good for unlimited use (like a gym membership), and are affordably priced (click here for a price list). If you attend three classes a week with a one year membership, the cost works out to less than $5 per class.

We at yogadotcalm are focused on creating a safe and fun environment, because we believe that if you enjoy something, you will do it more often. It is through a regular Ashtanga yoga practice that you will discover its enormous benefits. Like with all things in life, anything that changes ones life requires practice.

About the Owner
Owned and operated by Amber Kyliuk. She has been a part of the yoga community in Calgary since 1998.

She moved to Calgary from Winnipeg, MB in 1997 after completing her degree in Kinesiology. Originally moving out to Calgary to start her career in personal fitness training, she quickly learned how beneficial the Ashtanga yoga practice was. She was introduced to the practice by Mary Jo Fetterly and after completing Ashtanga Yoga teacher training at the Yoga Studio with Rockne White she began her journey into the yoga system. She has been a part of many yoga studios in the past, and has now set her roots in the south of Calgary with yogadotcalm.

Currently she is training in Critical Alignment® Therapy with Gert van Leeuwen of Amsterdam and received her Level 4 Certificate in June 2008.

Why did I start Yogadotcalm?
Actually, I didn't, it was Ian Buchanan and his wife Helen that did all that hard work! I am very grateful to both of them for all of their ideas and accomplishments along the journey of yogadotcalm.

I still remember the day that I met up with Ian at Good Earth Cafe and he told me all about his ideas for this wonderful studio and asked me to be one of the teachers. Wow, had I been told then that one day I would be owning it... But here I am. I greatly enjoy building on what Ian and Helen had created in those first three years!

It is not only a new chapter in my life, I truly feel like I have started a new book.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me, and is helping me in this journey!

Namaste,

Amber Kyliuk
